Cupstacking
By Emily Houser

Cupstacking is a sport where you take cups and put them in pyramids and then
take them out of pyramids and it is a good sport if you want good hand-eye
coordination and if you want something to do. It helps you a lot with
basketball, any sport that you use your hands with, or any instrument. It can
help you with anything and it is just plain fun! We did this in gym class two
years ago and I just fell in love with it. I got cups and my sister and I just
started and had a blast! Some people might think it is boring but it really
isn’t- the cups flow through your hands and go up and down and all around and,
well it’s almost like magic.

The world Champion is Emily Fox and she can do many stacks (pyramids) in 7.42
seconds. That of course is the world record and when she got the world record
she was just beating her own time. You can learn a lot about cupstacks and can
enter many contests on the website: www.speedstacks.com because that is the
brand of the cups that most people use.

There are a lot of stacks. There is the three stack, the six stack, the
three six three, then ten, the six, six and the cycle. In the cycle it is the
three, six, three; six, six; and the ten stack. That is what they do in all
individual races. They also have relay races where you might just do the
three, six, and three--or any other stack.

There is a lot more to cupstacking. It is believing that you can do the cycle
under ten seconds or twenty. It is all in the heart and hands!

Start thinking about what you can do with your hands and I hope to see you
cupstacking!!
